Faith Quotes of the Day: Verses on Happiness

There is always a reason to plant happiness in our hearts and there’s always a reason to share happiness. There are days when the weeds of sorrow grow within us to the point where we may have to work to plant happiness again. Some days, the sorrow overgrows so much we may be discouraged to even plant happiness.

When we’re down, there are always messages that can be found to encourage us to replant happiness within us again and weed out any sorrows within us. Many faiths and religions of the world have many encouraging words to allow us to find happiness again, even when sorrow fills us.

Bible, Old Testament, Psalms 126:5
“Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy.”

Bible, New Testament, 2 Corinthians 6:10
“Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.”

Buddhism, Thich Nhat Hanh
“Without suffering, there’s no happiness. So we shouldn’t discriminate against the mud. We have to learn how to embrace and cradle our own suffering and the suffering of the world, with a lot of tenderness.”

Islam, Quran 33:51
“You may postpone (the Turn) of any one you wish from among them, and may accommodate with you any one you wish. And you should recall any one from those whom you kept aside, there is no blame on you. it is more likely, in this way, that theri eyes will stay content, and they will not grieve, and all of them will be happy with whatever you give them. Allah knows whatever lies in your hearts, and Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.”

Sikhism, Sri Guru Granth Sahib, pg. 1107
“[Each] and every person experiences happiness or sorrow; whatever You give, Lord, is good.”

Native American: Billy Mills of the Oglala Lakota
“You have to look deeper, way below the anger, the hurt, the hate, the jealousy, the self-pity, way down deeper where the dreams lie, son. Find your dream. It’s the pursuit of the dream that heals you.”

While we can never do away with sorrow, we can always weed out the sorrow within us to make more room for happiness. As dark as the times may be, we can always find happiness through verses and quotes such as given in this post and we can always find happiness within.

Be well and be safe and healthy.
